PROJECT OVERVIEW
Wakely Associates partnered with Macomb County to design the new Macomb County Jail Tower, a landmark correctional facility that significantly expanded the County's detention capacity while establishing a modern, secure environment for inmate housing and facility operations. As a major public infrastructure investment, the project was developed to meet the operational demands of a growing community while incorporating durable construction, advanced security features, and efficient facility planning that continue to serve the County decades after its completion.
The project included the construction of a new 202,042-square-foot, eight-story maximum-security housing tower designed to support the complex operational requirements of a modern correctional facility. The facility incorporates secure inmate housing, staff support areas, specialized operational spaces, and the municipal infrastructure necessary to support continuous 24-hour operations. Every aspect of the design prioritized security, durability, operational efficiency, and long-term flexibility, creating a correctional environment capable of meeting the evolving needs of Macomb County's justice system while supporting the safety of correctional officers, staff, and the public.
The Macomb County Jail Tower remains one of the County's most significant public safety investments and demonstrates Wakely Associates' long-standing expertise in the planning and design of complex correctional facilities. By delivering a purpose-built maximum-security facility supported by modern infrastructure and thoughtful operational planning, the project established a foundation for the County's correctional system that continues to support public safety, efficient operations, and responsible stewardship of public resources.
